Ciao!
September 15-17 I traveled 13 hours on a bus to Croatia! We stayed in the city of Split, which looked like a combination of the French Riviera and the coast of Italy. The town of Split runs off of all the tourists, which makes it feel more like a city. The promenade, which was the marina by the water, was so beautiful and lined with palm trees. The first day, we visited Diocletions palace, which is where game of thrones was filmed. We could have gone without the tour but it was still interesting to see it. For lunch, I got an amazing greek salad and THE BEST potatoes I have ever had!!
The second day was the 9 hour booze cruise. This was sooo fun! At 8 am we took a bus to the port. It was an extremely windy day so the water was too rough to stand! Mimosas and rose where the choice of drinks for the day :) . The first island we stopped at, had a small beach with crystal blue water but superrr rocky instead of sand. We swam in the refreshing water and then each got a huge loaf of amazing bread for like 6 kuna! (there currency which is so cheap). We got on the boat to go to the island where lunch was. I am shocked to say I ate a FULL ON fish, head and eyes looking at you and all. I chopped the head off and deboned it myself. Maddie tried eating the eyeball (cried laughing). The fish was super tasty, tasted like chicken. Then we all fell asleep for at least an hour before we got to jump off the boat and go down the slide! SO FUN! Since the weather wasn't the best, we headed straight for the last island. The last island had amazing blue water where we sat on the beach until we had to head back.
On Sunday, we visited Krka National Park. I honestly felt like I was in a rainforest, which foreshadowed the rest of that day.... We went through the trails until we reached the beautiful water falls. It was cold and gloomy but we had to go in to experience the clear waters. While swimming in the falls, it started DOWN POURING!! Such a moment to remember since it was so horrible it was funny. We all ran as fast as we could to the bathrooms. We tried to change our wet clothes and dry off since we had a 12 hour bus ride home. Overall, Croatia was such a unique country of it's own and I loved getting to see it.
Next stop: Milan!
Ciao for now,
Cierra
