Fourth and final stop: Barcelona

Barcelona was such a new place for me culturally since it was unlike anywhere I have visited. I know a little Spanish from high school but I would say the language barrier was the hardest in this city! We arrived in Barcelona on Oct. 27 and left the 29th. The first full day we arrived, we went on a walking tour around the city. That day, Catalonia declared it's dependence from Spain which technically means we didn't get to go to Spain?! But a lot of protests were going on throughout the city which was crazy. We got to relax in this city as it was the last stop on our 10 day trip. During the walking tour we saw the Cathedral of Barcelona and architecture from Gaudi. Later we went to the coolest market ever called Mercat de la Boqueria, where I got fresh passion fruit, coconut, and a strawberry coconut smoothie for 6euro! There were tons and tons of fruit and candy and nut stands. Afterwards, we took the metro to the beach. We had a delicious lunch on the beach (I got the best fried calamari I ever had, since it was 17euro...) and then walked along the beach. We ended up feeling so tired from the week so went back to the hotel to nap.

The next day, we went to the best brunch place ever. Apparently, Barcelona is known for their brunch. It was called Brunch and Cake. I ordered the avocado toast and a passion fruit smoothie. The plating was gorgeous!!! After we ate, we took the long trek to Parc Guell. We legit took escalators up the mountain because it was so high up. The views were incredible, so we bought our tickets to the park and waited 1.5 hours to enter. The weather was hot throughout the day but ended up getting cold at night. We entered the park and took tons of pictures of the beautiful mosaics right before the sun went down. After the park, we headed to eat tapas at a restaurant near our hotel. I ordered a greek salad and nachos (in Spain I know). Then, we had our last nights sleep and was on the 16 hour bus ride back to FLORENCE!

Xo,

Cierra
